I already wrote a review on the speaker I received, but am adding here that to my ears there is a noticeable smoothness around the edges when compared to speakers of comparable design when new. I imagine it will smooth out even more, especially playing dimed, as I always do for a least a little while whenever I use the amp this Alnico 8" is in. It can take a while to settle a speaker as much as this one felt straight out of the box. I believe the service is well worth price.
Great speaker that sounded awesome right out of the box. Huge vintage-ish upgrade to my 8 inch combo amp. Break in service highly recommended.
I've come to be a huge fan of the Jupiter speaker line and find the speakers a bit sweeter if they get the break in service. Now always in my cart moving forward.
I have been playing guitar and building/upgrading speaker cabinets for quite some time now, and this Jupiter 12" Alnico Paper Voice Coil is far and above the best speaker for rhythm/clean guitar. To my mind, this is the most difficult tone to accomplish on the electric guitar: sit down, play an actual song from start to finish, smile at your accomplishment. Reference is a 1 X 12 pine open-back cabinet. I can only speak for myself: I find the lead tone is not that hard to get from a guitar, yet creating a decent rhythm tone keeps me up at night with worries that I'll not make the grade. You can rest easy now.
