Well, rest assured, this is one fantastic sounding speaker, but the reason I gave it 4 stars is because it will sound a bit clinical comparing it directly against the 12LA-P. The alnico version of this speaker is otherworldly, but you know what they say: "Comparison is the thief of joy." so don't do that if you have the option! That being said, the combination of the 12LC-P and 12LA-P is arguably better than two alnicos. They compliment each other beautifully!
TLDR; Don't hesitate, but if you can swing the premium for the alnico version do it without looking back!
Perfect fit for my 5e3 and 5f11. Super rich clean sounds.
This is a terrific speaker for a low wattage amp., especially if you like both grit and nuance. I’m using it in a 20w Brownface clones, and couldn’t be happier.
Excellent speaker~! Very even across all frequencies, very clear, in a 1965 Fender Princeton Reverb reissue, with 12 inch speaker.
Wonderful once again! This is my fourth purchase of a JUPITER Speaker. The 12LC-P made my little Bell & Howell Filmosound Amp come alive. Much more volume, sensitivity and frequency response out of the Jupiter. Call me crazy but I can "feel" the paper voice coil. I grew up playing amps from the '50s and 60s when all speakers had paper voice coils. I love all my Jupiter's
