I purchased the 12LA-P 25 watt speaker and installed it in a Fender Deluxe 5e3 amp (a kit I got from Stew Mac. I used to swear by Weber Alnicos- but this was a definite improvement. Nice bass tones AND clarity without the ice pick highs. I put a 8" Jupiter alnico in my Fender '57 Custom Champ..... it was a tight fit.... but the take away is that this is THE alnico to replace for Fender amps if you want to level up.

A superior Alnico speaker with plenty of bite, growl and bottom end. Does not get muddy when pushed. Can handle humbuckers easily

I am an Alnico fan, and yes, this is now my favorite speaker. I admit the Celestion 100 is a hard speaker to beat, but my ears say this is a sweeter and more pleasing. I can set the tone to any of the 3 basic sounds: clean, mild overdrive, heavy overdrive and play indefinitly on the single selected sound. With other speakers I lose interest after a while and must switch to another patch (of course the sounds must match the song). I have been building/assembling guitar speaker boxes for 55 years, have tried most speakers, and may continue to experiment. Yet I doubt this speaker can be reoplaced. By the way, the reference is low volume playing in small rooms with 6V6 power tubes, so the nuances are easier to hear I think.
